If you are experiencing a "tight muscle" and
stretching is not releasing the tension, then stop stretching! You may
be causing aggravation by stretching too long or too deep. The stretch
reflex may become activated and actually shorten the muscle. Instead of
stretching for the next five days, apply some heat/cold therapy or
gentle massage work to release the tension within the belly of the
tissue (you may be dealing with some trigger point issues).
